The Widening Participation (WP) team (within Social Mobility and Student Success) are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with young people to encourage social mobility and address educational inequality.
With a creative approach and experience of working with young people, teachers and schools/colleges, you will coordinate in person and online events/activities as part of the Lancaster Access Programme (LAP). The Lancaster Access Programme is a widening access scheme for Year 12 and 13 students from widening participation (WP) backgrounds. The programme gives prospective students access to a range of activities, designed to introduce them to university, experience campus life and prepare them for future study. You will work with participating students to monitor their progress and provide constructive feedback to maximise their learning so that they are able to achieve their potential, irrespective of barriers.
This is a varied role with the chance to develop your knowledge of a range of HE topics, including progression routes, student finance, UCAS application process and student life. You will develop workshops and deliver presentations at partner WP schools and colleges so that young people and their parents/carers are aware of the opportunities available at Lancaster University and are able to make informed decisions about higher education.
