English Teacher – SEMH School, New Forest
Full‑Time | Temporary (Ongoing) Salary: From £150 per day Start Date: Immediate
Prospero Teaching is pleased to be supporting a dedicated and nurturing SEMH school in the New Forest in their search for a resilient and passionate English Teacher to join them on a full‑time, ongoing basis.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people who require additional social, emotional, and mental health support. The school provides a therapeutic, relationship‑centred environment where staff work collaboratively to help students re‑engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve success-both academically and personally.
About the Role
1. Delivering engaging and accessible English lessons up to GCSE level
2. Planning and adapting learning to meet a wide range of SEMH needs
3. Creating a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment
4. Using strong behaviour management and relational practice to maintain consistency
5. Supporting students’ emotional regulation, resilience, and self‑esteem
6. Working closely with pastoral staff, behaviour teams, and senior leaders
7. Contributing to a positive, trauma‑informed school culture
What We’re Looking For
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
9. Experience teaching English up to GCSE
10. SEMH or SEN experience is highly desirable, though a strong interest in this area is welcomed
11. Excellent behaviour management and the ability to build trust with learners
12. A calm, patient, and emotionally regulated approach
13. Resilience, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
