The Role We are looking for someone who thrives in a hands-on role, enjoys working with metal, fire, and raw materials, If you are ready for something new? We’re a world-renowned laboratory specialising in umpire and party analysis – and we’re looking for a hands-on, motivated individual to join our team in Prescot. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of metal and mineral testing, analysing everything from ores and precious metals to ferro-alloys and solid fuels. This isn’t your typical desk job – it’s a physically active role for someone who’s ready to get stuck in and make things happen. About The Position Shift: 37.5 hours per week (Shifts: 6am–2pm / 1.30pm–9pm alternating, Mon–Fri) Contract: Full-time, permanent position The day to day Mixing, melting, hammering – you'll prepare and analyse samples using classical fire assay techniques. Operate electric fusion furnaces and pour molten slag like a pro. Use a hammer and anvil to separate lead buttons – think modern-day blacksmith. Handle chemicals safely and dispose of waste responsibly. Keep your eye on precision – you'll be working to ISO 9001 and 17025 standards. Learn the ropes of fire assay fusion and operate lab equipment like a seasoned technician. The Essentials Someone who’s practical, confident, and likes to get stuck in. Fire assay experience is a bonus – but full training will be given. Great communication and a strong team player mentality. Comfortable on your feet all day and physically capable of handling manual tasks. Sharp attention to detail – accuracy is everything in this game. IT-savvy enough to manage data and work to strict deadlines.
