Location: West Midlands and surrounding areas. Travel to various sites is required.
Job Title: MOBILE COMMERCIAL GAS ENGINEER
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 (£24.04 - £26.44 per hour)
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm (40 hours per week)
Recruitment: Subject to a satisfactory ENHANCED DBS and reference checks.
Summary of Duties
Service and maintenance of gas appliances within both commercial and domestic properties.
Boiler fault finding experience within both commercial and domestic properties.
Main Duties
* Attend service and reactive breakdowns to fault find, diagnose and repair in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
* Use knowledge and boiler fault‑finding experience to provide high levels of first‑time fix and customer care.
* Carry out day‑to‑day responsive maintenance, service and repairs as instructed.
* Carry out servicing and safety checks on all heating systems and identify any necessary works required to keep the systems in good order and compliant with current gas/oil safety regulations.
* Attend boiler/system breakdowns, inspect and identify all works required to ensure the heating systems function correctly.
* Make immediate decisions about repair requirements when the original job order does not reflect the actual works required and inform the relevant director.
* Inform the tenant (with reason) when a repair cannot be completed on the first visit and arrange a mutually agreed return visit while informing the director.
* Ensure that all items of tenant furnishings are protected at all times.
* Liaise with management and/or client to guarantee all works are completed.
* Ensure that all works and repairs are completed safely and in accordance with current codes and practices.
* Abide by all client rules and regulations while on site.
* When purchasing materials, pursue a 'best value and cost‑effective approach'.
* Accurately complete all relevant documentation associated with the duties and promptly return all information to the office.
* When a company vehicle is provided, use it in accordance with the company’s current policies and procedures.
* Maintain company property (motor vehicle, uniform, tools, etc.) safely, keep them clean and in good order, and test them when required.
* Actively take a proactive approach to finding and quoting additional works when required.
* Adhere to the company policies and procedures, handbook, and Health & Safety guidelines.
Person Specification
* Recognised gas apprenticeship and commercial gas certificates such as ACS‑CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1, CDGA1, CIGA1, TPCP1, TPCP1A, COMCAT.
* Experience in the commercial sector, including analysing, fault finding, service, repair and maintenance on gas/heating installations and appliances.
Due to the travel aspect, this is a mobile position that will involve traveling to multiple sites across the West Midlands and surrounding areas, with wider travel if required.
Due to customer demands, the ability to work additional hours over and above contracted hours is required, where overtime would be payable.
