GSL Education are working with a specialist SEN school in Christchurch to recruit a dedicated Educational Support Worker to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. About the Role As an Educational Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 5–19 with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with class teachers and therapists to deliver tailored educational and therapeutic programmes. Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them access the curriculum and stay engaged in learning. Assist with developing pupils' communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and independence. Help manage challenging behaviours with sensitivity and consistency, using de-escalation techniques when needed. Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and reports on pupil development. Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every pupil feels valued. Job Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs is essential. Backgrounds in education, youth work, mental health, psychology, care or similar fields are highly welcomed. A calm, nurturing approach with a strong commitment to inclusion and child development. Ability to remain patient, resilient, and solution-focused under pressure. Confidence working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
