E&I Field Technician
Job Title: E&I Field Technician – Global Biopharmaceutical
Contract: 12 months
Location: East Yorkshire, Humber
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting testing, calibration, and commissioning activities of field instrumentation and LV electrical systems across the facility. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of industrial electrical systems, field instrumentation, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work within a large CAPEX organization.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Performing loop checks according to company standards.
* Parametrising field instrumentation, VFDs, and other supportive field devices.
* Diagnosing and repairing motors, VFDs, electrical and instrumentation panels, and automation equipment.
* Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, machinery, and control panels in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
* Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, loop drawings, electrical schedules, and schematics to resolve electrical issues.
* Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and company policies, including British standards.
* Mentoring and supporting junior electricians and maintenance staff.
* Performing calibration activities as needed.
* Collaborating with engineering, construction, and production teams to achieve project goals.
* Maintaining good communication and interpersonal skills.
Candidate Requirements:
* Completion of a recognized instrumentation/electrician apprenticeship or technical program.
* Electrical City & Guilds or equivalent NVQ qualification.
* Additional certifications in automation systems are advantageous.
* Strong background with field instrumentation, low-voltage systems, motor controls (VFDs), and industrial automation (PLC).
* Deep understanding of electrical codes, safety protocols, and lockout/tagout procedures.
* Knowledge of electrical installation rules in ATEX environments.
* Familiarity with industrial bus systems like Profibus DP and Foundation Fieldbus.
* Knowledge of calibration devices such as dry block calibrators, pressure gauges, Beamex loop testers, etc., is beneficial.
* Experience with tools/systems like CMX, UBIK, COMOS, PactWare, Emerson AMS, and DeltaV is a plus.
