Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership:
o Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies.
o Offer strategic advice on health and safety matters to senior leadership.
o Lead risk management initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Director, Finance.
o Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety laws and regulations.
o Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
o Maintain detailed records of incidents and compile necessary reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.
o Liaise with external agencies, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities.
o Create and deliver training programmes on health and safety best practices.
o Ensure all staff receive appropriate inductions and ongoing professional development.
o Serve as the primary contact for health and safety training needs across the Trust.
o Oversee the reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents.
o Collaborate with site managers to ensure safe working environments.
o Implement a Trust-wide health and safety monitoring system.
o Develop and test emergency response plans, including fire evacuation and lockdown procedures.
o Support schools in managing critical incidents and conducting post-incident reviews.
o Ensure all schools have adequate first aid provision and accident reporting procedures.
Skills and Experience Required
* Proven experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within an educational or multi-site environment.
* In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
* Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
* Excellent communication and training abilities.Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
* Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
