Head of Data, Pricing and Commercial Analytics Location: Flexible (UK based) with regular in-person collaboration Salary: £90,000 to £150,000 depending on experience Benefits: Significant performance-related bonus Long-term equity potential About Us We are the clear market leader in our sector and one of the fastest-growing car buying companies in the world. In the UK we generate over 100,000 customer enquiries each month and book tens of thousands of vehicles over the same period. We have now launched across the United States and have an ambitious plan to expand nationwide. We are a highly profitable, established business (15 years) with the energy and ambition of a startup. Our goal is a billion-dollar valuation within the next five years. The Role We are looking for a senior, commercially sharp leader who is a practitioner first. This is a profit optimisation role, not a reporting role. You will join and lead an established environment that includes a Business Analyst and a dedicated team of developers. While you will lead this function, the role remains strictly hands-on. We need a practitioner who can delve into the data themselves, rather than someone who only delegates. We have some highly complex mathematical issues that need resolving within the company so this must be an area of expertise in which you are very comfortable. This is not a theoretical data science position. We are looking for someone who understands that models exist to drive commercial outcomes — not to sit in notebooks. You will take full ownership of model performance in the real world: monitoring drift, challenging assumptions, re-engineering feature sets, and continuously improving pricing logic to unlock incremental margin. If you have previously built models that directly influenced revenue, purchasing strategy, or unit economics at scale, this role will feel familiar. You will be expected to think like an investor inside the business. Every pricing decision represents capital allocation and risk exposure. You should be comfortable modelling uncertainty, building expected value frameworks, stress testing edge cases, and making confident recommendations under imperfect information. We want someone who can look at a distribution curve and immediately see both the arbitrage opportunity and the downside risk — and then build the model to capture it. You will work directly with the directors to drive measurable improvements in margin and pricing accuracy across both our UK and US operations. We currently rely on Machine Learning pricing models to buy vehicles, and we need someone who can autonomously identify and implement significant improvements to how these models operate Core Responsibilities ● Hands-on ML Optimisation: Directly improve and refine our machine learning pricing models to drive margin and conversion (UK & US). ● Data Infrastructure: Build and own a centralised data environment and single source of truth. ● Team Leadership: Lead and leverage our existing Business Analyst and developer team to execute your data strategy. ● Commercial Balancing: Identify mathematical ways to optimise margin against volumes purchased. ● Risk Quantification: Model risk across damage types, sales channels, and vehicle categories. ● Direct Implementation: Translate complex data into clear commercial actions and work with engineers to push models into live production. ● Global Strategy: Drive pricing strategy across both UK and US markets. What We Are Looking For ● The Operative Mindset: You are a senior leader who still loves getting into the weeds and building models yourself. ● ML Expertise: Proven experience building, deploying, and improving Machine Learning or Pricing models in a high-volume B2C environment. ● Commercial Sharpness: You look at messy data and see profit opportunities. You think in terms of Expected Value and Margin Optimisation. ● Autonomy: You understand data well enough to drive the strategy without needing a roadmap from the leadership team. ● Technical Stack: Strong SQL, data modelling, and experience working with engineers to integrate models into live systems. Why Join Us ● Work directly with an ambitious founder and leadership team. ● Total autonomy to build and lead the data function properly. ● Influence multi-million pound revenue streams and share in the value you create through equity. ● Scope to scale into a Group Director position as we grow internationally. Benefits and Perks ● Contributory pension package. ● Comprehensive wellbeing and employee support programme. ● Discounted gym memberships and on-demand GP service. ● Retail and leisure discounts across major brands. ● Regular team events, summer and Christmas parties. ● Free food Fridays and fresh fruit available for staff working on site. ● Free on-site parking. ● Discounted garage services for vehicle owners. ● Counselling and financial assistance helplines
