Job Summary
Our friendly and progressive pharmacy department is currently looking for an exceptional individual to join the pharmacy team. We have a fully integrated electronic prescribing system and are able to deliver enhanced pharmaceutical care putting Medicines Optimisation at the heart of our clinical services.
Responsibilities
* Undertake general pharmaceutical duties under the supervision of a Section Manager or deputy, assisting in the provision of a safe and effective pharmacy service in line with current policies, procedures and legal requirements.
* Work within patient services undertaking medicines optimisation duties on the wards, improving the quality of care by assessing patients' own medicines, ensuring suitability for hospital use and managing non-stock medicine orders.
* Dispense prescriptions in the dispensary, supporting the dispensary manager and lead technician in the day‑to‑day running of the dispensary.
* Maintain ward stock levels as part of the pharmacy stores team.
* Perform heavy lifting and push/pull operations on a daily basis while supporting the pharmacy stores team.
* Use the Pharmacy IT system to label and dispense medication against prescriptions, orders and Controlled Drug requests according to prescriber instructions.
* Organise, label and prepare compliance aids (Dosette boxes).
* Assess POD drugs against TTA prescriptions, endorsing with relevant information and documenting any discrepancies.
* Use the prescription tracking system to book, track and log prescriptions at each stage, ensuring completion within allocated turnaround times.
* Provide admission, supply and discharge services to nominated wards with minimal supervision, liaising with pharmacists, doctors and nursing staff as appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy services or willingness to work towards it.
Desirable Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English at Grade C or above.
Essential Experience
* Previous pharmacy experience.
* Managing own workload to meet the needs of a service.
* Working within a team.
Desirable Experience
* Previous hospital pharmacy experience.

* Pay scheme: Agenda for change.
* Band: 3.
* Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 per annum.
* Contract: Permanent.
* Working pattern: Full‑time.
