You will be joining an established civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Derby, operating across themercial, industrial and energy industries. This multi-accredited contractor delivers projects valued at up to £20m for an array of high-profile clients and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and hands-on professional development. Due to continued success, they are seeking an Estimator to join their pre-contract team.
This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Derby office with the option for hybrid and flexible working.
Your new role
As Estimator, your responsibilities will include:
1. Preparing and submitting tenders from first principles, including obtaining quotations for subcontract work, materials and plant, andpiling programmes
2. Liaising with clients to ensure a full understanding of their requirements is obtained
3. Assisting in checking details of order and preparing documentation for, and attending, handover meetings with the contracts department if tenders are successful
4. Assisting junior staff when required to ensurepetence in the duties required of them
5. Representing thepany at all times and promoting good relations with clients (and their representatives), subcontractors and the general public
6. Conducting site visits to determine factors that could influence the cost of undertaking works.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must have:
7. Experience in estimating within the civil engineering industry (or a related field)
8. Ability to estimate from first principles
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
10. Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
11. Full UK driving licence.
