1:1 learning support assistant

Hertford
Micklem Primary School
Learning support assistant
Posted: 4 December
Offer description

We are looking for a calm, kind, caring and nurturing person to join our team to support one of our Year 2 children on a 1:1 basis. Top of our list is someone who knows how to develop positive relationships, has strong communication skills including Makaton (or someone willing to learn), someone who can work with initiative but knows that advice is there if needed. Are you patient, fun, supportive and a good team player? Do you understand the difference between doing everything for a child or enabling them to become independent? We believe that every child has the right to fulfill their potential and we are looking for that special someone who can help support in and out of class to make that difference. We are a 'No Outsiders' school and hold 'Flagship' status from the Inclusion Quality Mark Award. We believe in going the extra mile to enable all of our children to succeed. We would offer professional development and support to fulfill this role. Micklem is a wonderful community school and we have a supportive team of staff and lovely children. If you think this could be for you, we would be delighted to show you around the school and discuss the role further. Potential applicants are welcome to telephone the school to speak to the Headteacher in order to discuss the position in more detail, or to visit. When applying for this role, applicants must account for all gaps in employment history.

This post is for 30 hours per week. The post is term time only. Our position is fixed term and is explicitly linked to external funding to support a named pupil.

At Micklem Primary School the health, safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils. If shortlisted, candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration where they will be required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020).

The successful candidate will be subject to satisfactory recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, medical clearance, acceptable online search and satisfactory references. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Please note, references will be taken up before interview.

Be Kind. Show Respect. Aim High.
