I am recruiting on behalf of a leading international engineering organisation that delivers advanced water-treatment technologies to a wide range of industrial clients. Due to continued growth, the organisation is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Peterborough facility, which designs, builds, and supports mobile water-treatment systems used across multiple global sites.
The Role
As a Design Engineer, you will play a key part in supporting both local and global engineering projects. You will work closely with the design, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop 3D model designs using SolidWorks or AutoCAD, producing detailed fabrication drawings and review packs.
* Support the design and engineering of mobile asset water-treatment systems for build and upgrade projects.
* Work collaboratively with the design team to develop and refine concepts.
* Select materials and equipment in line with specifications and certifications.
* Manage customer deliverables for client-facing projects.
* Use SAP for material master data, inventory, drawings, and BOM management.
* Support EHS, Quality, MOC engineering actions and participate in HAZOPs.
* Assist in supplier identification, part selection, and technical review of quotations.
* Provide engineering support to manufacturing sites in the UK and internationally.
* Offer guidance and training to interns, new starters, and outsourced engineering partners.
* Carry out site visits and as-built surveys.
About You
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering (BSc/MEng/MSc).
* Experience or industrial placement within the water industry is advantageous.
* Proficiency in SAP, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks is preferable.
* Curious, solutions-driven mindset with a focus on service-led design.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across global teams.
