Capgemini is recruiting experienced Quality Engineers at a Lead level. The role involves building solutions for a public sector client, delivering critical digital services from cradle to grave across high-performance cloud platforms using Java-based languages and technologies, as well as on‑premises traditional infrastructure.
Hybrid working
Working location will vary depending on role, personal needs, and business requirements. Typically this will include a mix of company offices, client sites, and remote work. For Telford or Worthing (Worthing office will relocate to Brighton & Hove in the second half of 2026) employees are expected to work from the office 40%–70% of the time. For all other locations you must come into the Telford or Worthing office once to twice a month (Lead engineers more frequently). Fully remote (100% from home) is not permitted.

* Technical Leadership: Lead and oversee engineering projects, ensuring high‑quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
* Innovation: Drive innovation by developing and implementing cutting‑edge engineering solutions.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions.
* Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
* Performance Management: Actively support the development of our Engineers in their technical careers.

Your skills and experience
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the QA process, knowledge of defining and implementing test designs, and broad experience across test levels.
* Hands‑on experience maintaining automated test frameworks (e.g., Cucumber, JUnit)
* Knowledge of stubbing/mocking frameworks such as Wiremock
* Understanding of non‑functional testing (Performance, Security, Accessibility)
* Experience with Git or other version‑control systems
* Strong experience of iterative/incremental software delivery
* Hands‑on experience across all levels of the test automation pyramid
* Experience in API testing and tools
* Experience in functional or system testing
* Experience using project‑management tooling (e.g., JIRA)
* Good knowledge of Agile methodologies
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong problem‑solving and collaborative skills
* Proactive, looks for areas of improvement
Additional competencies for Lead Engineer
* Advanced Technical Skills: Deep understanding of the QA process, test design, engineering principles and best practice; adaptable to acquire new skills matching industry demands.
* Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex issues.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with high emotional intelligence to connect with and develop engineering talent.
* Project Management: Proven experience managing and leading engineering projects from conception to completion, driving client value while maintaining profitability.
* Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
* Influence: Assess and apply change across the organisation, shaping a healthy culture and promoting best practice within the technical community.
