Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly & supportive Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) team at Ysbyty Gwynedd. The post is suitable for doctors with experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology who either seek specialist training or want to support CESR. The role requires a minimum of 3 years O&G experience, with at least 6 months clinical experience in the NHS, and will support the second on‑call tier.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team and be flexible to evolving service needs. Responsibilities include outpatient clinic sessions, labour ward duties, gynaecology operating‑theatre lists, and the second on‑call rota. Work patterns and out‑of‑hours frequency are reviewed regularly and may change to adapt to departmental needs.
Qualifications
* MB ChB or equivalent qualification
* MRCOG part 1
* At least six months of experience working as second on call in the UK
Desirable Qualifications
* ATSM in Labour Ward / Advance Antenatal practice / Benign gynaecology
* GCP training
Experience
* Essential criteria – Competence in managing emergency Obstetrics and Gynaecology cases as second on call with non‑resident consultant cover
* Desirable criteria – Experience of participation in research activity, including recruitment, consenting or lab‑based research
Knowledge & Skills
* Essential criteria – Willingness and ability to work with minimal direct supervision
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively
* Desirable criteria – Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (e.g. report‑writing, guidelines/protocols)
Academic
* Essential criteria – Participation in Clinical audit / Quality Improvement activity
* Desirable criteria – Publication in peer‑reviewed journals
Management
* Essential criteria – Understanding of NHS management structure
* Desirable criteria – Demonstrated ability to manage projects or staff rota; attendance at a management course
