Position details
We invite dynamic and enthusiastic applicants to join Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust as a full-time (37.5 hours) specialist MSK band 6 physiotherapist.
Service overview
Our outpatient physiotherapy team sees patients referred from primary care, A&E, and secondary care across the Calderdale and Huddersfield health economy, with services offered on multiple sites. In Calderdale, we provide the full MSK pathway, including FCP, outpatient physiotherapy, and MSK services working closely with orthopaedic services.
Development and support
We are committed to supporting our specialist physiotherapy team to develop their MSK skills portfolio with protected time and support from experienced senior clinicians.
Responsibilities
1. The specialist assessment and treatment of patients with a wide variety of MSK conditions.
2. Determine clinical diagnoses and develop, deliver, evaluate, and modify individualized treatment programs or provide specialist advice.
3. Ensure appropriate care pathways and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies.
4. Continue to develop specialist skills.
5. Work autonomously within HCPC registration, Trust policies, and professional practice.
6. Maintain accurate and comprehensive up-to-date records.
7. Participate in and deliver education and training for physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals, including medical staff.
8. Support the Team Leader and Clinical Lead in daily operations of the Physiotherapy Service.
9. Rotate across locations within the Calderdale and Huddersfield health economy, working in supportive hubs with supervision and annual appraisal.
10. Hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle, with reasonable adjustments considered for disabilities.
11. Participate in mandatory and ongoing professional development activities.
Clinical duties
1. Manage a clinical caseload independently, using assessment, shared decision-making, treatment, and rehabilitation strategies.
2. Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and contemporaneous records.
3. Support patients in setting goals and self-management through shared decision-making.
4. Provide specialist assessment and treatment, including manual therapy, exercise, pain relief, bio-psychosocial assessment, and falls assessment.
5. Use appropriate outcome measures and apply evidence-based knowledge.
6. Act as a resource and provide advice within the MSK physiotherapy service.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare providers involved in patient care.
8. Develop specialist assessment, treatment, and intervention programs.
9. Prioritize and manage own workload, delegating appropriately.
10. Participate in supervision and ensure high standards of patient care.
11. Share information and good practice through networks.
12. Participate in out-of-hours respiratory on-call and orthopedic weekend services if required.
