Job Title: Quality Inspector – Mechanical Engineering

Our client, a highly respected engineering business operating in a regulated industry, is currently seeking a skilled Quality Inspector with a strong background in mechanical engineering or precision machining. Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out dimensional inspections on fabricated and manufactured parts, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and relevant industry standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality across all stages of the production process.
Key Responsibilities
1. Use digital and manual measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, verniers, CMM) to perform final and in-process inspections.
2. Assess components and materials to ensure they meet required tolerances and drawing specifications.
3. Document inspection results accurately and maintain inspection records.
4. Review engineering drawings, route cards, and inspection procedures to determine compliance criteria.
5. Support process audits and assist with the development and maintenance of inspection-related documentation.
6. Inspect and verify materials, supporting the certification and traceability process.
7. Maintain calibration records for measuring equipment.
8. Contribute to the preparation and review of Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs).
9. Liaise with client inspectors as required.
Reporting Structure
This role reports directly to the Quality Control Manager.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
10. Time-served mechanical engineer or machinist
11. Strong understanding of trigonometry and mechanical measurement principles
12. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
13. Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools
14. Working knowledge of ISO 9001
15. Computer literate and capable of maintaining digital records
Desirable Experience
16. Exposure to CAD software and/or reverse engineering
17. Knowledge of British Standards
18. Previous experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g. nuclear, aerospace)

20. Effective communicator, both written and verbal
21. Able to work independently with minimal supervision
22. Flexible approach to tasks and working hours
23. Full UK driving licence
24. Willingness to undergo (or current holder of) baseline security clearance
