We are thrilled to announce the vacancy for the position of Lead Pharmacist for Emergency Medicine at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be responsible for comprehensive clinical pharmacy services in the ED and urgent care, covering a wide array of clinical presentations and pharmacological queries.
Responsibilities
* Lead and enhance clinical pharmacy services within the ED.
* Attain expert status in medicines optimisation and medicines reconciliation.
* Participate as a proactive prescribing pharmacist in ward rounds, with training provided as needed.
* Serve as a specialist and expert in emergency and general medicine, offering specialised advice to healthcare teams and patients.
* Ensure safe and efficient patient discharge from the ED.
* Collaborate on disease management programs and innovative clinical pharmacy services.
* Uphold high standards in both clinical and financial pharmaceutical management.
* Participate in weekend and on-call rotas as part of a 7-day ward-based service.
* Lead the pharmacy service in the Emergency Department following current professional standards and clinical governance.
* Ensure safe and prompt discharge of patients from ED and admissions areas.
* Serve as a specialist role model and expert in emergency, acute, and general medicine, providing advanced information and advice to healthcare staff and patients, both within and outside the Trust.
* Aid in overseeing ED-specific governance, including quality management systems, policies and procedures.
* Lead the creation of ED policies, education, and training materials; collaborate on site-specific training for pharmacy staff.
* Engage in Urgent and Emergency Care Clinical Business Unit meetings to address issues and promote improvements; contribute to relevant Clinical Business Unit meetings and project boards.
* Build networks with key organisations for development of best practices and workflow standardisation.
* Identify and manage priorities and risks associated with the pharmacy ED service; support change management, marketing, communication, and implementation plans for the ED pharmacy service.
* Provide continuous support to staff for effective management of changes and issues.
* Lead the evaluation of relevant KPIs to demonstrate the value of the ED pharmacy service; aid in developing data systems for quality or efficiency dashboards.
* Implement systems to monitor therapeutic changes related to medication use and safety, ensuring integration into clinical ED systems.
* Collaborate with various areas on clinical and financial aspects of drug prescribing, including protocols and budget management.
* Maintain high standards of clinical and financial pharmaceutical management.
Qualifications and Development
