Overview
Weighing Technician (Mechatronics / Electrical Background) vacancy in Fife Based (214jc) – £30k to start while under training. This is a field-based role covering the whole of the UK, but ideally you will be based in Auchtermuchty for training and on-going development.
What You’ll Do
* Install, service, and repair industrial weighing systems and related control equipment, ranging from simple industrial weighing machines to vehicle weighing equipment.
* Calibrate and maintain equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
* Diagnose and fix issues with electrical, electronic, and mechatronic components.
* Integrate weighing equipment with wider automation and process control systems.
* Carry out planned maintenance, upgrades, and system improvements.
* Support customers on-site and remotely, acting as the trusted technical expert.
* Travel across the UK (sometimes staying away from home for short periods).
What They Are Looking For
* Background in mechatronics, electrical, or electronic engineering/technology — forces trade qualifications (REME, RAF, Royal Navy, etc.) are highly valued.
* Practical experience in installing, maintaining, or repairing complex technical equipment.
* Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
* A “can-do” mindset with strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions.
* A full UK driving licence.
Nice to Have (but not essential)
* Knowledge of load cells, weighing systems, or calibration.
* Familiarity with sensors, PLCs, or control/automation systems.
* Previous field technician or industrial engineering experience.
