Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Structural Steel Painter/Forklift Operator to join our team. This is an integral role, to help support the successful production and delivery of our steel products and services to our customers, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires working with different steel components and on various sized structures and steelworks. The role is varied; below are some of the most common responsibilities and duties of our Structural Steel Painter/Forklift Operator:
Responsibilities and Duties
* Mix paint and other coating materials to the correct consistency.
* Prepare steel surfaces for painting and check dirt, rust, and old paint has been removed.
* Apply paint and other coatings using spray equipment, brushes and rollers.
* Inspect completed work to ensure that it meets quality standards.
* Carry out specific paint testing and record data, as instructed and required by customers.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area when painting.
* Work collaboratively with the team to achieve production targets.
* Safe operation of machinery such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
* Safe manoeuvre of a forklift in a busy industrial environment and yard.
* Ensure all forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.
* Regularly check forklift equipment for faults or damages.
* Assist safe loading, unloading and movement of components within the factory.
* Perform a variety of tasks as needed to support yard operations, such as safely loading and unloading materials, equipment, and products, and safely moving them to appropriate storage locations, in the yard or the factory.
* Ensure items/steelwork ready to be delivered is efficiently and safely loaded and all deliveries are efficiently and safely unloaded, and items placed appropriately in the yard or workshop.
* Comply with all safety regulations and guidelines at all times, including wearing the specified protective clothing and equipment.
* Any other duties, which are reasonably within the role of a Structural Steel Painter/Forklift Operator.
Qualifications and Skills
* Strong understanding of paint and coating applications.
* Ability to mix paint and other materials to the correct consistency.
* A detail-orientated and methodical approach.
* Excellent attention to detail with high levels of concentration.
* Manual skills and a steady hand.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Highly motivated with good communication skills and the ability to positively communicate with customers and lorry/delivery drivers.
* Health and Safety Awareness and understanding of the necessity to wear protective clothing and equipment.
* Good physical condition.
* Forklift License (preferred).
* Driving License (preferred).
Experience:
* 2 years of experience as a Structural Steel Painter (preferred).
* Previous 1 year+ experience as a Forklift Operator or similar industrial role.
* Forklift operations experience (preferred – training will be provided for the right candidate).
* Previous experience in a warehouse setting is preferred, demonstrating familiarity with materials handling and logistics operations.
* Ability to use electrical or manual tools.

Hours of Work
We offer the competitive work pattern of employees working 40 hours a week, across 4 days; Monday-Thursday, 10 hours per day. There is also the opportunity for overtime work on a Friday; although this is not guaranteed each week.
