Port Health Officer | Liverpool City Council
Location: Port Health Administrative Buildings / Port of Liverpool
Salary: £40,777 - £46,142 per annum
Contracts: 3x Permanent + 1x fixed‑term maternity cover (12 months)
The Role
We invite applications from experienced Environmental Health Officers or newly qualified officers eager to develop Port Health skills. Successful candidates will enforce United Kingdom legislation through enforcement, advice, guidance, and education, and will carry out inspections and classifications at the Port of Liverpool.
* Monitor and review all imports of products of animal origin and food not of animal origin, including documentary checks, inspection, and sampling.
* Verify certificates of organic products at the point of import.
* Conduct ship sanitation inspections of cruise ships, ferries, merchant vessels, small passenger vessels, and pleasure craft to ensure compliance with UK and international standards.
* Provide liaison, advice, and guidance on communicable disease control matters at the Port of Liverpool and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
We have three permanent roles and one fixed‑term maternity cover role, which will end after 12 months.
