Consultant General Surgery – NHS Highland
Permanent full time post – 10 points per week (2 EPAs available).
Salary: £111,430 – £148,064 per annum.
Flexible contract options available.
We are seeking a Consultant General Surgeon to work in our unique, busy rural general hospital in Oban. The hospital is located on the west coast of Scotland, with easy access to the central belt in under two hours and two hours to Glasgow international airport.
About the role
'Generalism is our specialism.' We are happy to consider any subspecialty interest provided you are trained in Emergency General Surgery. We are eager to support any further training or experience you may require, making this a truly unique opportunity. This is not a job for someone interested in just maintaining rural surgical services; it is about making them fit for the future.
Candidates must have GI endoscopy skills and experience on top of broad surgical experience.
Benefits
We can offer a Global Citizens contract for a period of 3 years, which includes 10 weeks* (paid) each year dedicated to global health work. You can contribute to projects in partner countries or in Scotland, through services such as online teaching, engaging with policymakers, and supporting service development and evaluation. The Global Health Academy based in Edinburgh will support you with project identification, travel, and visa arrangements. Example program countries include Malawi, Zambia, and Rwanda. (*This excludes annual leave and study leave – which could be added to this time.)
