REGIONAL TRANSPORT MANAGER

An exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Regional Transport Manager to join our successful team based across our Southwest sites.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who will play a key role in the strategic growth and development plans of the contract.
This is a regional role that supports the regional management team to succeed on a daily basis and therefore some cover for the Regional Operations Manager will be required.
The role is predominately Monday to Friday days but the operations runs 24 hours 7 days so it is therefore essential that you are flexible in your approach.
The Role:
1. Proactively manage and motivate drivers based on site and off site, to achieve planned targets and deadlines and resolve any issues on a daily basis
2. Ensure deliveries are being made in line with KPIs, including delivery on day and time, and usage of the customer delivery system including POD and precall compliance
3. Ensure daily briefings and debriefs of driving team members communicating planned requirements providing information on performance, company news and procedures
4. Ensure absences, sickness and holidays are covered with trained agency personnel
5. Work closely with the Regional Operations Managers to ensure that ensure colleagues and agencies are trained in Company procedures, policies and Health & Safety
6. Complete employee relations actions, including disciplinaries, grievance, absence management and performance reviews.
7. Promote good driver behaviours utilising tools including telematics
8. Promote and record near miss reporting in order to support a Health and Safety culture
9. Ensure the contract complies with the Road Traffic Act
10. Manage fleet to ensure that this complies with O Licence requirements
11. Ensure accurate and efficient issue of delivery documents via the customers system
12. Ensuring effective collation of statistical information for various reports
13. Management of tachograph records, purchasing and vehicle downloads
14. Ensuring the correct management of drivers’ hours, working time directives and monitoring of reference period averages
15. Close liaison with the customer, stores and other managers on the Contract
16. Undertake such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the contract
The Person:
17. Previous transport experience is essential
18. Knowledge of transport legislation
19. A strong understanding of colleague management
20. Must have a flexible approach to working hours
21. Must display attention to detail due to nature of work
22. Must be self-motivated with a can-do approach
23. Good team player but also needs to be able to work on own initiative
24. Excellent communicator at all levels
25. Previous experience using Microsoft office, in particular Excel, is essential
26. An understanding of drivers Working Time Directive and EU Regulations
27. Holder Of International CPC qualification is desirable
