* Produce CAD models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials
* Select appropriate components, materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes to meet technical, cost, and lead‑time requirements
* Carry out structural, dynamic, and thermal analysis using simulation tools
* Support prototype builds and production, including hands‑on assembly, fit checks, and design updates
* Liaise directly with suppliers for quotations, design‑for‑manufacture discussions, and technical queries
* Contribute to design reviews and technical decisions with multidisciplinary teams
* Support environmental and functional testing, including vibration, thermal, vacuum, and EMC/EMI testing
* Create technical documentation such as design documents, drawing packs, specifications, and test reports
* Assist with customer technical support where required
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal engineering processes

Requirements

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent industry experience
* Alternatively, HNC/HND qualified with at least 3 years' relevant mechanical design experience
* Strong knowledge of mechanical component design, housing/enclosure design, CAD tools, manufacturing processes, and manufacturing‑ready drawings
* Experience with some or all of the following: thermal, dynamic, and structural analysis/simulation
* Comfortable taking designs from concept through to build
* Strong attention to detail
* Able to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team
* Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce detailed technical documentation

Desirable Experience

* Experience with PCB layout
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering business working at the forefront of space and advanced electronics technology, offering exposure to highly technical projects and the chance to make a real impact within a collaborative R&D environment.
