Automation Engineering Technician

Overview
An Automation Engineering Technician is required to join an International Industrial and Automation Company that is expanding its Technical Support and Service Team. The Technician will report to the Service Manager and will be involved in the setting and testing of capital industrial equipment prior to dispatch. Responsibilities include commissioning in the company’s and customers’ factories and training of operators and maintenance personnel.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Assemble product development equipment and machinery to provided technical drawings.
* Modify parts and assemblies using hand and power tools such as drills, belt sanders, and band saws.
* Apply experience and creativity to problem‑solving during build and test phases of development.
* Set up and test Company’s Engineering full range of industrial and assembly equipment.
* Final testing and assembly of machinery in preparation for inspection and dispatch.
* Install and commission company equipment.
* Train customers’ staff at various levels, both at the company and at customers’ premises.
* Write reports and provide recommendations following all visits.
* Maintain accurate expense claims and uphold company expense policy.
* Liaise with Sales, Production and Design Teams.
* Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to other team members.
* Perform national and some international travel, including weekend work where required.
* Ensure all relevant machine documentation is accurately completed.
* Identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements.
* Adhere to and consistently apply all workplace management and rules.
* Actively participate in improvement projects as required.
* Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.

* Consistently follow corporate policies, procedures, and legal obligations.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures within operations.
* Perform additional tasks or duties from time to time.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship and educated to HNC or Degree level.
* Dual skilled with a proven track record of machine assembly and fault diagnosis.
* Use measuring equipment such as micrometre and vernier callipers with attention to detail.
* Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings.
* Read and interpret pneumatic drawings and circuits.
* Fault‑find pneumatic circuits to component level.
* Understand electrical control circuits.
* Understand PLC machine controls.
* Write concise informative reports and offer solutions to problems.
* Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and able to communicate at all levels, both orally and written.
* Hold a valid identity document/passport and be willing to travel up to 125 days nationally and sometimes internationally. Flexible working hours and travel required.
