Role Overview
The Quality Controller will be responsible for ensuring that our reprographic outputs comply with our quality standards and customer requirements through efficient and effective quality control. We are looking for an individual that can adapt to meet internal and external customer demands, and take a solution‑led approach. This can be a very fast‑paced industry with a challenging workload, so the successful candidate must approach work with a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
Where the Role Sits Within the Team
The Quality Controller role is part of the Quality Control team, working closely with Customer Service, Studio and Production teams. The team ensures we deliver an outstanding level of quality to our customers daily.
Who do you report to
The Quality Controller reports directly to the Production Manager and communicates with Client Services, Studio & Manufacturing Teams, Directors and other staff as projects dictate.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The Quality Controller will use our quality monitoring software to monitor, log, and communicate the quality of art and reprographic work. They will use the system to track issues, alert managers and ensure corrective action is taken.
Key Deliverables
* Follow SOPs for pre‑plating QC checks including visual inspections, measurements and proofing.
* Follow SOPs for production of a proof.
* Identify and resolve quality issues, preventing recurrence.
* Notify Production Manager of workflow‑affecting issues promptly.
* Complete work ticket, QC check sheet and company databases accurately.
* Prioritise jobs to ensure timely delivery to customers.
* Update CRM at each point during the QC process.
* Collaborate with customers on approvals, amends, artwork, repro and plates.
Required Skills and Expertise
* Previous experience in quality control within the print or reprographics industry.
* Flexible to work up to 5 days over 7, including weekends and late day shifts if required.
* Calm under pressure and detail‑oriented.
* Ability to follow SOPs and meet tight deadlines.
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Experience with CRM systems desirable; training will be provided.
Travel Requirements
The role is based in the Cramlington office with no regular travel. Occasionally, visits to clients may be required with reasonable notice.
