I. Role Overview
The Baker is responsible for the daily production of the store’s bakery product line, including product preparation, baking operations, quality control, and hygiene management, ensuring customers are provided with fresh, delicious, and consistently high-quality baked goods. The Baker will also support new product trials, production capacity planning, and inventory management in line with store operational needs.
II. Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Operations
* Prepare and produce baked goods (e.g. cakes, croissant tarts, egg tarts, etc.) in accordance with company-standard recipes and operating procedures.
* Complete the full baking process, including ingredient preparation, mixing, fermentation, shaping, baking, and post-bake handling.
* Plan daily production volumes reasonably based on sales performance and capacity plans.
2. Product Quality Management
* Ensure all products meet company standards for taste, consistency, and appearance.
* Monitor product freshness to ensure compliance with food safety and shelf-life requirements.
* Support new product development, trial baking, and feedback collection.
3. Food Safety & Hygiene Management
* Strictly comply with UK Food Safety & Hygiene regulations and company hygiene standards.
* Perform site cleaning, equipment maintenance, and daily opening and closing cleaning procedures as required.
* Use and store ingredients correctly, following the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle.
4. Inventory & Equipment Management
* Assist with raw material stock checks, purchasing requests, and goods receiving.
* Conduct daily maintenance of baking equipment such as ovens and mixers, and report any malfunctions promptly.
5. Teamwork & Communication
* Maintain effective communication with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to support store operations.
* Assist in training new employees or part-time staff on basic baking skills and hygiene standards.
* Provide support to other store roles when necessary (e.g. ingredient preparation, packaging, replenishment).
III. Qualifications & Requirements
1. Basic Requirements
* Legal right to work in the UK (Work Authorization).
* Ability to work early shifts, weekends, and public holidays on a rotating basis.
2. Education & Experience
* Relevant baking-related education or professional training is preferred.
* Minimum of 1 year of experience as a baker (bread or Western-style baking).
* Experience in chain bakeries, cafés, or food & beverage brands is an advantage.
3. Skills
* Solid understanding of baking techniques (e.g. dough handling, fermentation control, baking methods) and strong hands-on skills, with the ability to quickly learn and master the company’s egg tart product techniques.
* Basic knowledge of food safety; UK Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred.
* Good communication skills, strong teamwork mindset, and ability to work under pressure.
* Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
