Newton Place Surgery is looking for an experienced Phlebotomist to join our busy GP surgery in Faversham.
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and confident part-time phlebotomist.
The hours of work are 7 am to 12 pm 4 days a week.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitled patient addition, the Phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis.
Newton Place Surgery must ensure that the post holder has access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriate named individual in the organisation to provide general advice and support on a day-to-day basis.

Newton Place Surgery has a large multidisciplinary team including 17 GPs, practice nurses, Associate Practitioners and HCA. We also employ other allied health professionals such as a Mental Health Practitioner, First Contact Practitioners, ANPs, Paramedic Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists and GP Assistants. We are a forward-thinking practice, committed to delivering high-quality care to our 19,400 registered patients.
Newton Place Surgery is a vibrant purpose-built surgery with a great family feel, set in the beautiful market village of Faversham in the countryside of Kent. The practice has good transportation links, being less than 1 mile from Faversham train station and not far from the M2 turn-off.
We offer a variety of additional on-site services such as ultrasound, audiology, physiotherapy, women's health, minor surgery, ECGs, and spirometry and we are also a covid vaccination site. The practice is actively involved in research and employs a small team to support this. We are also a training practice that hosts ST2, ST3, medical students, PAs, paramedics, and student nurses.

Duties and responsibilities
1. Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
2. Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures
3. Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
4. Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
5. Checking patient identification against GP/Nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
6. Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure
7. Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
8. Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
9. Notifying the GP/Nurse of any significant patient issues
10. Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
