Position: Field Service Engineer
Salary: £12.55 per hour
Location: Preston depot, PR5
Hours: 39 hours per week
We are currently seeking Field Service Engineers to join our team at the Preston depot. We welcome applications from residents of Preston or nearby areas. As a healthcare equipment provider, we partner with the NHS to supply essential equipment and aids to support individuals in their daily lives.
Job Purpose
To enable the company to meet contractual service standards by completing initial training in workshop reconditioning of wheelchair equipment to acquire essential product knowledge. After training, you will work in the field to deliver, collect, repair, and service wheelchairs, aiming for first-time fix completion.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver and collect wheelchairs from service users' homes and NHS departments, following infection control policies.
2. Service and repair wheelchairs in the field, striving for first-time fix.
3. Complete all job paperwork accurately, detailing parts used and actions taken.
4. Use PPE as instructed.
5. Assume out-of-hours responsibilities when rostered.
6. Follow all regulations regarding company vehicle use and safety.
7. Maintain the vehicle in a tidy condition and ensure necessary stock replenishment.
8. Perform weekly vehicle safety and van checks.
9. Provide professional customer service, maintaining discretion and wearing a clean, laundered uniform and ID badge.
10. Prioritize and organize workload, consulting with the Line Manager as needed.
11. Maintain tools and equipment responsibly.
12. Undertake necessary training to keep skills current.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence
* Successful enhanced DBS check
* General workshop knowledge
* Basic electrical knowledge (12v/24v DC systems)
* Experience in face-to-face customer contact
* Previous delivery driver experience
* Understanding of disabilities
* Flexible approach to working conditions
* Good communication skills
* Ability to use mobile phones and scanners
* Physical ability to handle equipment and work in confined spaces
