Description Salary: £25,500 per annum Location: Balerno, Midlothian Contract/Hours: Permanent / Full Time – 37 hours per week - Nightshift work patterns will consist of either 10-hour shifts or 12-hours shifts. Sleepovers, evening and weekend work is also required. About the role We’re excited to be recruiting compassionate and motivated Night Residential Support Worker’s to our brand-new residential service in Balerno, Edinburgh. This unique opportunity involves working closely with one young person, supporting them to live a full and meaningful life within their home and in the wider community at night. Our service is deeply collaborative, drawing on the expertise of in-house and external health professionals and behaviour support specialists to provide the highest standard of care. The young person you’ll support enjoys a variety of sensory and playful activities, including playing with a ball or balloon, matching games, singing, ipad time, slime, painting, garden play, wooden puzzles, sorting games, drawing, and stickers. Every day brings a new chance to be creative and resourceful in planning activities that are engaging, fun, and focused on developing new skills. As a key member of our team, you’ll play an active role in encouraging independence and helping the young person make positive choices. You’ll need to bring patience, empathy, and resilience, especially when navigating behaviours that some may find challenging. Above all, you’ll contribute to a calm, homely environment where the young person feels safe, respected, and motivated to grow. How you’ll create brighter futures Some key responsibilities of the Residential Support Worker are; Providing lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk. Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports. Attending at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc. Helping young people in all aspects of their daily lives at night. Having good communication skills and the ability to engage well with young people, colleagues and other professionals. Let’s talk about you Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We’re looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. Ideally you’ll have: Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust. Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families. Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting. Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role. Possess an SVQ level 3 (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
