Management AccountantCardiff (on-site)Salary: £40,000 - £42,000 + benefits£20m t/o SME ManufacturingAre you a hands-on Management Accountant or an Assistant Management Accountant looking to progress into a Management Accountant. This role will take ownership of the finance function within a successful, growing SME. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business in Cardiff, where you’ll report into the Financial Controller as their key finance partner.The Management Accountant plays a critical role in providing accurate financial information and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making. In a manufacturing environment, this position focuses on cost control, budgeting, and performance monitoring to ensure profitability and efficiency across production processes.Key Responsibilities:Maintenance of Cash Book, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Fixed Asset RegisterSupplier Statement Reconciliations and issuing Customer StatementPreparation and posting of the monthly journalsPreparation of trial balance at month end ensuring all appropriate profit & loss, Accruals & Prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations are performedAssisting with variance analysis and system reconciliations/analysisAssisting with cost analysis reports for raw materials, labour, and overheadsAssist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecastsAnalyse production costs and identify opportunities for cost reductionSupport pricing decisions with accurate cost dataProcess weekly payment runs as well as proforma paymentsAssist with year-end statutory accounts & annual tax compliancePreparation of VAT returnsAbout You:Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or QBE with strong SME finance experienceProven track record in management accounting, VAT compliance, and month-end processesCommercially minded, with the ability to partner with non-finance stakeholdersHands-on, self-sufficient, and comfortable working as the sole finance professionalStrong systems and Excel skills; experience with SME/ERP systems an advantagePrevious manufacturing sector experience desirable but not essentialIf you’re a proactive Management Accountant who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and making an impact, this role offers the chance to be at the heart of a thriving manufacturing business.
