As a PCRF Policy Designer, you'll work at the heart of our client's mobile core, delivering cloud‑native PCF/PCRF solutions that power millions of customer experiences every day. Role Overview
The PCRF Policy Designer will lead hands‑on technical design across PCF, PCRF and UDR, driving policy and charging architecture for 5G/4G/3G data services. You'll partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, customer‑focused solutions and play a key role in our 5G Standalone transition.
Key Details
Location: London/Reading (hybrid – twice per week on-site: 6 days per month in Reading + 2 days per month in London)
Rate: £475 per day (inside IR35)
Contract Length: Until 11/12/2026 (with visibility to extend)
Working Pattern: Standard hours (8:30 – 17:30) + occasional night work during changes
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
Design cloud‑native PCF, PCRF, and UDR platforms supporting 5G SA/NSA, 4G, and 3G.
Translate business requirements into efficient, scalable policy and charging solutions.
Produce detailed integration models and technical designs across policy and charging domains.
Collaborate closely with Operations, Test, WLT, Marketing, Revenue Assurance, Service Management, and TSA Security.
Ensure alignment with 3GPP standards and internal architectural frameworks.
Contribute to VMO2's migration from legacy to cloud‑native policy architectures.
Champion customer‑centric design decisions to improve quality and protect revenue.
Key Requirements
Strong experience with PCF/PCRF platforms, including architecture and policy design.
Proven knowledge of 5G Standalone architecture, interfaces, and policy behaviours.
Solid understanding of Diameter and policy/charging protocols.
Background working in a telecommunications operator environment (mandatory).
Understanding of BSS/OCS integrations and subscriber management (UDR).
Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native / VNF environments.
Excellent communication skills and resilience in a fast‑paced, multi‑project environment.
