About the Role
As our Business Development Director, you’ll be at the forefront of our growth strategy — driving new connections, forming strategic partnerships, and shaping the future of our heat networks across the region.
Working closely with development, technical, and delivery teams, you’ll turn early‑stage ideas into commercially viable projects. You’ll lead our business development strategy, influence investment decisions, and strengthen key relationships with developers, local authorities, and stakeholders.
This role exists to ensure Energetik capitalises on demand for low‑carbon heat, spot new commercial opportunities, and expand our network sustainably and profitably.
What You’ll Lead
Business Development & Strategy
* Define and deliver our growth strategy for network expansion and new connections
* Identify market opportunities, policy developments, and partnership prospects
* Lead competitor analysis, pipeline building, and market intelligence
* Guide strategic planning and commercial investment decisions
Stakeholder & Developer Engagement
* Build strong relationships with developers, local authorities, and consultants
* Lead engagement through the full connection process
* Negotiate heads of terms, agreements, and partnership deals
* Represent Energetik at industry events, forums, and meetings
Commercial Leadership
* Lead business cases, financial modelling, and commercial evaluations
* Assess project viability and support risk mitigation
* Monitor performance against KPIs and pipeline targets
Collaboration & Governance
* Work closely with technical, delivery, legal, and finance teams
* Maintain accurate pipeline records and reporting
* Ensure best practice in commercial negotiations and compliance
What You’ll Bring
Essential
* Significant business development experience in energy, utilities, or infrastructure
* Strong commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills
* Proven track record of securing new business and leading partnerships
* Strategic thinker with excellent communication and influencing skills
* Leadership experience supporting or managing teams
Desirable
* Knowledge of heat networks, district heating, or low‑carbon solutions
* Experience working with local authorities and property developers
* Understanding of UK energy policy, regulation, and funding frameworks
* Chartered status or relevant degree
Attributes
