A bit about the role … Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Junior Finance Assistant supports the day to day running of the finance function by completing core administrative and junior book keeping tasks. The role provides hands on exposure to accounting processes, supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the finance team. This is an entry-level role suitable for individuals beginning their finance career or transferring from an administrative background. What you will be responsible for… Support the Finance Assistant and wider finance team with general administrative and finance-related tasks. Review and validate financial data to ensure accuracy and maintain high standards of data integrity. Post basic entries to the sales and purchase ledger under supervision. Assist with maintaining and updating cash books and spreadsheets, including ledgers and cost-tracking records. Track cost expenditures across projects and follow up on outstanding items as required. Support the processing of supplier invoices, ensuring they are correctly allocated and uploaded as required. Maintain up to date Purchase Orders, ensuring accurate recording for the finance team. Prepare monthly credit card reconciliation information, ensuring receipts and coding are complete for review. Assist with staff expenses and mileage claim processing. Help reconcile bank transactions and prepare information needed for monthly bank reconciliations. Monitor the accounts inbox, responding to queries in a timely and professional manner and escalating when required. Communicate discrepancies promptly to the finance team to support smooth financial operations. Sort and manage incoming and outgoing mail relating to finance matters. Foster collaborative working with internal teams to support efficient delivery of finance services. Contribute to maintaining a positive working environment by role-modelling company values and professional behaviours. What we’d like from you… Strong administrative experience or active interest in building a finance career. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Solid literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to work to strict weekly deadlines. Proactive attitude with the motivation to learn new systems and processes. Enjoy working at a fast pace and managing multiple priorities. Have a warm, friendly and positive nature with good communication skills. Demonstrate reliability, integrity and a proactive approach to workload. Desirable Exposure to finance tasks such as invoice handling, reconciliations or data entry. Experience using accounting software (full training will be provided). AAT Level 2 or interest in pursuing AAT/ICB qualifications.
