Assistant Quantity Surveyor

An opportunity has arisen for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Team at Galliford Try.
Ideally you will be based in or around Manchester and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites and projects in the Region.
This post will be for a £25m residential development in Chester, adjacent to the historic Shot Tower and the Shropshire Union Canal. The project consists of a mix of one‑ and two‑bedroom apartments, providing a total of 126 new homes.
What you will be doing:
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to assist in the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project. You are looking to gain experience, develop your career and become a key part of the Site Team and Business Unit Commercial Team.
* Participate in creating a safely working environment.
* Use the latest software tools to assist in cost and value reporting to the business unit.
* Be involved in the procurement of subcontract packages including preparation of bid enquiry documentation and critical evaluation of bids.
* Produce subcontract documentation for approval of packages procured.
* Administration of allocated subcontract works packages including interim assessments of the amount due and change management.
* Assist in the production and issue of commercial notices to subcontractors.
* Assist in the management of change in accordance with the form of contract.
* Provide information to the commercial team to assist in the production of monthly payment applications to the client.
* Liaise with operational and engineering staff.
* Collate and calculate information required to assist the commercial team in the production and maintenance of a detailed cost to complete including schedules of subcontractor liabilities.
About You:
* Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
* Strong IT skills including Excel and Word.
* Experience in dealing with a range of subcontract packages.
* Good communicator.
