Duties of the Role We are looking for a technical expert in costume supervision and wardrobe management. The post holder may additionally have an interest in costume design, augmenting the resident technical teams’ skills. The post holder is responsible for delivering production support, including costume sourcing/making, maintenance, budgeting, rehearsal room support and facilitation across a dynamic range of productions, including established texts, devised work, student-led festivals, Christmas shows, and other ancillary projects within the department. Based at our Colchester Campus, the post holder will act as a production lead in the department, supporting the broader department output and learning activities across East 15 - Colchester. Helping to supplement the skills existing within the department. This full-time role will be based in Colchester and will require infrequent travel to other venues and locations for project delivery. There may be occasional (infrequent) support required for the Loughton Campus on an ad hoc basis. Skills and qualifications required. Experience of professional theatre working environments is essential, and previous work within an educational setting is desirable. The candidate will have relevant professional links, strong organisational skills, and technical knowledge to support the maintenance and upkeep of wardrobe equipment. The right candidate should have a hands-on ability and experience in differing costume styles, material and making techniques, demonstrating outstanding integration of theatre and workroom health and safety considerations in their working methods alongside the ability to collaborate with directors, designers, facilitators and guest groups.
