Are you a caring and enthusiastic individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? If so, this is your opportunity to join the team at Ryefields!

Position: Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location: Aurora Ryefields School, Ryefields, Derby
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term Time Only
Hours: hours per week, Monday to Friday -start date 1st May 5
Salary: £, to £, (Actual annual salary, dependent on experience and qualifications)

Ryefields is a brand-new, purpose-built special school in Derby, dedicated to providing outstanding education and support for children and young people with ASC and SEMH needs. Our vision is to create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can achieve their full potential.

As part of the Ryefields team, you’ll play a key role in creating a positive and inclusive school culture right from the start.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant at Ryefields, you will support the educational, social, and emotional development of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the needs of students.
2. Providing one-to-one and small group support to help students engage in learning.
3. Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
4. Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using agreed strategies.
5. Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
6. Supporting students with personal care, where necessary, in a dignified and respectful manner.
7. Monitoring and recording student progress, contributing to reports and feedback for teachers and families.
Skills and Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

8. Experience working with children, ideally in a SEND or educational setting (desirable but not essential).
9. A passion for supporting children with ASC and SEMH needs.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
11. Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
12. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
13. Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, are desirable but not essential.
