We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team at Horringer Pre-school near Bury St Edmunds as an apprentice. We care for approximately 25 children per session in a purpose built pre-school building, which is only a few years old. The site benefits from two outdoor play areas, one of which is within our little wooded copse.

8. Experience working with children; good natural rapport with children.

Purpose of Post:
To provide safe, high quality education that imposes a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the setting.
To assist other staff members and the Pre-school Manager in the day to day running of the room, planning and carrying out activities where necessary. To play an active part in caring for the children whilst working effectively as part as a highly professional team. * however, some flexibility will be required to ensure preschool can support children and families, delivering high quality care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
13. Operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending a session in conjunction with other staff
14. To be assigned key children, and as a Key Person, keep a record of progress (using an on-line Learning Journey) for your key children for parents/carers and other setting
15. To gain an understanding of the EYFS curriculum to meet the needs of each individual child
16. To be committed to completing your apprenticeship training, keeping on top of the workload and meeting deadlines
17. Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members, also outside professionals with support from setting SENCO and Pre School manager
18. To be involved in out of working hours activities,. training, monthly staff meetings, parent evenings, safeguarding meetings and fundraising events
19. To be flexible within working practices of the setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the setting,. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment etc.
20. Ensure children are collected by someone known to the setting and in line with procedures
21. To respect the confidentiality of information received
22. To participate in staff appraisals and develop your role within the team, accessing training when it is identified.
Knowledge, skills and behaviour developed within this role:
23. Completion of recognised Level 3 childcare qualification
24. Completion of paediatric first aid training and safeguarding training
25. A positive approach to gain further qualifications
26. Enhanced DBS disclosure
27. Gain knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework.
