Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
1. Architect & Model the System of Systems
2. Lead creation and upkeep of the government-owned SysML / CAMEO model, DoDAF views, and interface control documents (ICDs) that capture NomadSmithWatch interactions with the Digital Infrastructure (DI), SATCOM links, and cross-domain solutions.
3. Ensure every requirement traces to a verification method and mission thread, supporting CJADC2 and Operational Imperative #2 objectives.
4. Requirements & Baseline Management
5. Elicit, decompose, and manage stakeholder needs in DOORSNG (or equivalent); chair requirements reviews, delta boards, and configuration control boards.
6. Maintain the Technical Baseline and drive change packages through digital workflows, preserving model / document synchronization.
7. Integration Leadership
8. Partner with IPT leads to translate digital designs into Integration SIL builds; resolve cross-domain, crypto, power, and databus interface issues quickly.
9. Feed lessons learned back into the model, ensuring the next sprint starts with an accurate baseline.
10. Verification & Validation Alignment
11. Collaborate with Test & Flight Test teams to develop the Verification Cross-Reference Matrix (VCRM) and ensure early shift-left validation of safety, cyber, and performance requirements.
12. Provide preflight technical concurrence for Interim Authorizations To Test (IATTs) and airworthiness packages.
13. Risk, Metrics & Reviews
14. Maintain the technical risk register, conduct root cause analyses, and brief burndown plans to senior DAF leadership.
15. Feed schedule, maturity, and performance metrics into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and digital dashboards.
16. Mentorship & Culture
17. Coach mid-level engineers on MBSE best practices, Agile/SAFe workflows, and DevSecOps culture in a classified environment.
18. Foster a collaborative, model-first mindset across Government and industry teammates.
Required Skills:
* Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
* B.S. in Systems, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering or related field and 15+ years of systems engineering on DoD C4ISR, avionics, or open architecture programs, including requirements management, architecture, and integration, or a Masters plus at least 12 years of experience.
* Active TS/SCI clearance.
* Proficiency with SysML modeling tools (CAMEO/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or equivalent) and requirements databases (DOORS, Jama).
* Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and managing technical baselines in a digital engineering environment.
* Solid grasp of MIL-STD avionics power, data links (Link16/22, TTNT, OMS/UCI), SATCOM, Type 1 crypto, and RMF / IA compliance.
Desired Skills:
* INCOSE CSEP / ESEP or DAU ENG/SAE Level III certification.
* Prior work on ABMS, CJADC2, or other open architecture airborne networking efforts.
* Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines (Platform One / Iron Bank) and automated model validation (ModelCenter, Cameo Simulation Toolkit).
* Experience briefing SES / GO audiences and shaping acquisition strategy documents (AS, SEP, SEMP, TEMP).
