The Digital Content Strategist defines, builds, and structures the evolving overall digital content (including assets and user interactions) on Smith+Nephew's website and digital platforms. This is a new role, working across all our business units to build and deliver cohesive digital communications. The role works in partnership with local markets and is the lead on all things digital content in our global head office. This is a hands-on role where you will strategize and implement with our small team and agency partners.
What will you be doing?
1. Define the new content creation process for our digital platforms. Educate and support the internal organization to build user-friendly and dynamic content.
2. Own the creation, development, and execution of the content strategy for the company's website and connected, customer-facing digital platforms.
3. Improve internal production processes for crafting digital content by collaborating practically in small teams and closely working with Marketing and Marcom. Define new content workflows in the CMS in collaboration with technical teams.
4. Work with internal partners to improve the entire customer journey, tying together big ideas and concepts in engaging, innovative ways.
5. Be part of the global S+N.com web team, working closely with the Web Customer Experience Director, regional team members, internal editors, external design agencies, and development teams.
6. Create and maintain editorial calendars, content playbooks, voice/tone guides, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and content migration plans to ensure consistency across platforms.
7. Support and participate in content conception and creation with global and local markets.
What does success look like?
The Digital Content Strategist leads efforts to enhance customer satisfaction through guidance, driving engagement with excellent content and clear call-to-actions to optimize the digital customer journey. Your insights will help foster a 'digital first' culture at Smith+Nephew.
Your background
* 5+ years of experience in content strategy, copywriting, UX writing, SEO, or related fields, preferably in an agency setting.
* Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in writing, journalism, literature, communications, marketing, or similar.
* Experience with Sitecore 10.x as Content Management System and Digital Asset Management System (DAM).
* Excellent knowledge of content workflows and supporting a global organization in producing innovative digital content.
* A balance of big-picture thinking, meticulous execution, and enthusiastic content consulting.
* Understanding of W3C standards, SEO, and analytics methodologies.
We are open to hybrid, remote, or office-based working, provided you reside in the UK. Some meetings will occur at our Watford office, so it's important that you can attend when needed.
