Job Description
EduTalent Group are delighted to be recruiting for a dedicated and passionate Occupational Therapist to join a specialist school in Maidstone. This role offers flexible hours and can be full-time or part-time, supporting learners with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as complex physical and health needs.

As the Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively within the Therapy Team, providing clinically effective, person-centred, and evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and intervention. You will support learners, their families, and school staff, contributing to each student’s independence, functional abilities, and engagement in school life.

Key Responsibilities:

* Deliver individual and group occupational therapy assessments and interventions tailored to learners’ needs.

* Plan, implement, and evaluate person-centred programmes to improve functional abilities and participation in daily activities.

* Support teaching staff in integrating therapy strategies into the classroom and using specialised equipment safely.

* Supervise and provide guidance to junior therapy staff.

* Liaise with families, carers, and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care.

* Conduct risk assessments related to manual handling and equipment use, providing training and support to staff.

* Write professional reports for reviews, EHCPs, and multidisciplinary meetings.

* Maintain accurate treatment records in line with professional standards.

* Keep up to date with developments in occupational therapy and contribute to ongoing staff development.

* Work across multiple school sites as required.

Requirements:

Essential:

* Degree or Graduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy

* HCPC registration

* Experience working with children with severe/profound and multiple learning disabilities

* Ability to manage a clinical caseload effectively

* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support and train staff

* Knowledge of specialist equipment and ability to assess and advise appropriately

* Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)

Desirable:

* Experience in a special school or SEND setting

* Experience supervising junior therapy staff

* Knowledge of current best practices in occupational therapy interventions for children with complex needs
