Consultant ENT - Benign Head and Neck

Main duties of the job
1. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of ENT
2. To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Education
3. To work within a team to address ENT problems within the inpatient population of BH
4. To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD)
5. To participate in the on call emergency rota at OUHFT as a 1 in 14 on call service as consultant on call with Specialty Registrar and Core Trainee or Foundation Doctor as a team. This covers referrals from Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire (no emergency or inpatient ENT service) as well as tertiary referrals from surrounding hospitals eg Milton Keynes University Hospital and supporting OUHFT inpatient services including neurosurgery and paediatric intensive care units
6. To attend OUH Clinical Governance and Audit sessions.

Skills, Abilties & Knowledge
Essential criteria
16. Excellent leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of consultant
17. Evidence for surgical and clinical skills in ENT surgery to undertake a consultant role
18. Good personal and interpersonal skills
19. Good spoken and written English
20. Communication skills should be highly developed.
21. Experience of teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates
22. Experience of clinical audit

23. Broad experience in the management of ENT elective surgery and emergency ENT with training to specialist level or equivalent desirable
24. SpR or ST training programme plus ASTO/TSC training
25. Ability to make good decisions at consultant level
26. Evidence of clinical audit
27. Experience of MDT working
Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
28. Full GMC Registration
29. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via -CCT or CESR (CP) -proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview) -CESR or -European Community Rights
30. An appropriate higher ENT surgical qualification.
31. Subspecialist training in benign head and neck pathology and surgery, complex swallow and phonosurgery including local anaesthetic medialisation
32. Interest in MDT working such as lump in the neck clinic
