SEND Teaching Assistant — Full‑Time, Part‑Time, Adhoc, Long‑Term and Short‑Term

Location: North Tyneside
Pay Rate: £14.24 – £15.50 per hour
Job Type: Variety of roles and bookings available
Potential: 20 April – 17 July 2026

Are you a caring, enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full‑time role in Newcastle? Do you enjoy supporting children’s learning and making a real difference in the classroom every day?

Humly is working closely with a wonderful and exceptionally popular SEND primary school in North Tyneside who are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their team on a supply basis. They are currently recruiting for full and part‑time roles as well as adhoc bookings – perfect to fit any requirement or schedule.


The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning within the classroom across primary ages. You’ll help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where pupils feel supported, confident, and motivated.


Key Responsibilities

* Support the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons and classroom activities.
* Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and provide additional support where needed.
* Support pupils with additional needs, including SEN, ensuring they can access learning and participate fully.
* Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development.
* Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
* Work effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to support pupil progress.
* Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote the wellbeing of all pupils at all times.


Requirements

* Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting (desirable).
* A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A genuine passion for working with children.
* Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
