Overview
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and preparation, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences while supervising kitchen staff and ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards.
* Baking fresh bagels, pastries, and other baked goods
* Preparing sandwiches, wraps, and salads to order
* Maintaining cleanliness during service and deep-cleaning at the end of the day
* Closing the kitchen independently when required
* Upholding excellent food safety and hygiene standards
* Working flexibly across various areas of the café to support the business when needed
* Assist in menu planning, including the creation of new dishes that align with seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
* Monitor inventory levels of food supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock is maintained.
* Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned regularly.
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
* Taking responsibility for your role and the quality of what we serve
What We're Looking For:
* Proven baking and kitchen experience (bagels, breads, pastries, etc.)
* Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, food safety practices, and kitchen management.
* A proactive, positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility
* Willingness to pitch in wherever needed—whether it's prepping food, washing up, or helping a teammate
* A passion for culinary arts and creativity in developing new dishes.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with team members.
* Open to feedback and focused on constant improvement
* Bonus: Coffee-making experience or interest in learning
