About the role

Working Pattern & Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hybrid/Flexible (Office located: London, Vauxhall) – 3 days per week in office
We're looking for an experienced PR leader to own and execute dual-brand PR strategies that build trust, authority, and market leadership. You'll lead a team of two (PR Manager and Digital PR Manager) while managing an external agency partner to maximize impact across traditional PR, digital PR, and SEO performance.
This role sits at the intersection of healthcare PR, digital PR for link acquisition, consumer health and wellbeing, and reputation building. We require someone who can balance commercial ambition with medical credibility and regulatory compliance (MHRA, ASA).
You'll run a go-to media press office for health journalists, the strategic architect behind our transparency campaigns, the leader driving high-authority backlinks for SEO performance, and the voice helping us navigate the complex reputational challenges of the online pharmacy and weight loss sectors.
As a people manager and cross-functional leader, you'll coach and develop your team while collaborating closely with social media and content teams to ensure PR stories are amplified across all channels and that content insights inform PR strategy.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities will cover the following areas and duties:
Expert Spokesperson Programme
* Develop and media-train our pharmacist and doctor spokespeople as national health experts
* Coordinate rapid-response commentary (within-hour turnaround) on medication queries and health trends
* Position Chemist4U as the journalist-friendly pharmacy press office that media call first
Proactive Media Relations
* Deliver expert commentary placements monthly across national, trade, and consumer health media
* Produce quarterly research reports on prescription trends, medication access, and healthcare challenges
* Develop educational content series demystifying medications, generics, and pharmacy safety
* Balance business priority products with media appetite and seasonality
Reactive & Crisis Communications
* Manage media enquiries with sub-90-minute response times
* Lead crisis communications on supply disruptions, pricing changes, and sector challenges
* Develop holding statements and proactive customer communications for reputational risks
myBMI: Building the UK's Number One Weight Loss Clinic
Thought Leadership & Authority
* Position myBMI clinicians and nutritionists as leading voices in holistic, evidence-based weight management
* Secure coverage in health, lifestyle, and news media on obesity treatment, sustainable weight loss, and the role of GLP-1 medications within comprehensive care programmes
* Develop data-driven PR campaigns showcasing patient outcomes across nutrition, movement, education, and medication pillars
* Counter "quick fix" narratives by positioning myBMI\'s holistic approach as the sustainable alternative to medication-only services
Agency Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Agency Management
* Manage external PR agency to maximise deliverables across both brands and both traditional + digital PR
* Set clear monthly priorities, briefs, and KPIs aligned to business objectives
* Review agency performance against targets
* Ensure agency outputs integrate seamlessly with internal team deliverables
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Partner with social media team to amplify PR coverage across organic and paid channels
* Work with content team to ensure PR insights inform content strategy and vice versa
* Coordinate patient story development with content writers for multi-channel storytelling
* Aging and positioning across PR, social, and content channels
Digital PR & SEO Performance
* Lead digital PR strategy to secure high-authority backlinks that improve organic search rankings
* Set monthly link acquisition priorities aligned to SEO objectives (medication pages, category pages, brand awareness)
* Line manage PR Manager (traditional media relations, spokesperson coordination, crisis comms)
* Line manage Digital PR Manager (link acquisition, reactive campaigns, data-led content, journalist outreach for backlinks)
* Create a high-performing, accountable team culture focused on measurable outcomes
* Media Relations & Press Office
* Build and maintain journalist database across health, lifestyle, consumer, and trade publications
* Cultivate relationships with key health reporters, freelancers, and broadcast producers
* Measurement & Reporting
* Monitor coverage across national, regional, trade, and online publications
* Produce monthly performance reports with actionable insights and optimization recommendations for both traditional and digital PR
* Report on team performance and resource allocation across priorities.
About You:
You’re an experienced PR and Digital PR professional with solid experience securing national media coverage and building trusted journalist relationships. You have a strong grasp of both traditional brand PR and digital PR for SEO, including link acquisition, SEO metrics and data-led campaigns. You’re comfortable translating strategy into clear, measurable plans, managing agencies and budgets, and working across multiple brands with different audiences. You’re a confident people manager who enjoys developing high-performing teams and collaborating closely with content, social and SEO colleagues. Experience in healthcare or regulated industries is a bonus, but not essential. You’re proactive, data-driven and motivated by making a meaningful impact on healthcare access and patient outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience:
The ideal Senior PR Manager will be a strategic, hands-on communicator and will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience to lead impactful PR campaigns, build strong media relationships, and drive results across both traditional and digital channels.
PR & Media Relations
* 6+ years PR experience with demonstrable track record of securing national media coverage
* Experience managing press office functions and rapid-response media handling
* Proven ability to build journalist relationships and generate inbound media requests
* Healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical or regulated industry PR experience strongly preferred but not essential
* Understanding of both traditional brand PR and commercial digital PR for SEO
* Digital PR & SEO
* Strong understanding of digital PR\'s role in SEO performance and link acquisition
Strategic Delivery
* Experience translating strategy into actionable plans with clear KPIs
* Agency management experience including briefing, performance management, and budget oversight
* Comfortable working across dual-brand strategies with different audiences and objectives
