An opportunity has arisen for a self directed, motivated individual with experience in the field of gynaecology /oncology to be part of an established team of Gynae- Oncology nurse specialists based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital Cancer Centre. This will be a 6-month secondment, to support the service. Working as a key member of the Gynae-oncology multidisciplinary team, you will take on the role of key worker, providing support from diagnosis and throughout treatment to both patients and their carers. The post holder will be expected to support the Lead Gynae Oncology Nurse Specialists and contribute to the strategic direction and delivery of a quality service to patients with gynaecological malignancies .You will have the key responsibility for the coordination and organisation of the patient pathway throughout the disease trajectory. Work to enhance communication across both professional and organisational boundaries in order to ensure co-ordinated patient care. Applicants should be able to demonstrate up-to-date relevant clinical knowledge and experience in gynaecology and oncology. RGN, 5 years post-registration, with relevant experience in Gynae-Cancer nursing and or relevant cancer course at 1st Level Nursing degree, plus MSc or working towards/prepared to undertake; a qualification accrediting 20 level III CAT points in this specialist area of nursing practice; and, accredited communication skills qualification.
