Band 2 Theatre Support Worker

To work as an effective member of the multi‑disciplinary team assisting with patient care activities under the direct supervision of a registered Theatre Practitioner. Following appropriate training and assessment of competence undertake identified and delegated clinical and non‑clinical duties.
The post holder will undertake the movement of patients, equipment and designated items throughout the hospital and will contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe working environment.
The post holder will uphold the trust values and is expected to behave at all times in a way that demonstrates commitment to the delivery of thoughtful, compassionate patient care and continuous improvement of patient care quality, outcomes and experience.
Although you will be trained within all areas of the role, we are seeking individuals to predominantly focus on patient transfers which will involve collecting patients from wards and taking patients back to wards in their beds.
Main duties of the job
Assist with the care and treatment of patients whilst in the department promoting patient safety, comfort, privacy and dignity and confidentiality.
Obtain consent from patients prior to conducting any intervention and where this is withheld seek advice or support from a registered practitioner.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control practice by adhering to policies and procedures and supporting the maintenance of a clean clinical environment.
When required undertake collection and delivery of items within the Trust (Blood products, specimens ,instrumentation).
Escort patients, visitors and staff to and from the departments and around the hospital.

Qualifications
* None
* Functional skills Level 2 English Language and Maths Qualification or GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English Language
* Care Certificate or evidence or Training & Development associated with Health Care Support Worker role
* Level 2/3 NVQ/ Diploma in care
Experience
* Recent previous experience in a care environment
* Experience of working / participating as part of a team.
* Evidence of ability to work using own initiative and under minimal supervision
* Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role and tasks involved
* Can articulate the reasons for training/ standards of practice and behaviour and how these may be demonstrated / relate to patient care and safety
* Shows enthusiasm for the role and is interested in working in a theatre environment
