Overview
Role: Financial Reporting Accountant. Team: Health Finance. Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth Office. Full time, 35 hours per week. Flexible working options can be discussed.
Responsibilities
* Preparation of the monthly investment accounting for the fixed term deposits and bond portfolio for VitalityHealth (VHL).
* Monthly accounting and reporting for VHL's non-MedEx portfolio, including the accounting for related reinsurance.
* Accounting for other reinsurance within VHL.
* Monthly accounting and reporting for commission for VHL.
* Provide back‑up for the calculation of the monthly sales bonuses.
* Provide back‑up for the daily cash management process.
* Assist in the preparation of the monthly VitalityHealth consolidated performance pack.
* Assist in the reporting of the monthly results and annual results in the Discovery Group consolidation software, OneStream.
* Assist in the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements for VHL.
* Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timely completion within tight reporting deadlines.
* Process monthly journals in Sage, run trial balances, etc.
* Assist in the preparation of other financial and regulatory reporting.
* Maintain auditable records and ensure compliance with End User Application standards; support internal and external audit activities including the annual audit of Internal Financial Controls (IFCs).
* Support continuous improvement of finance processes and drive efficiency in the financial reporting process.
* Support the Financial Controller and wider Finance teams with ad hoc requests.
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree level or equivalent + 2-5 years work experience.
* Confident user of some advanced features of Excel.
* Able to generate and communicate results in response to fast changing conditions.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work well independently and prioritise workload effectively.
* Self-starter with ambition to develop the role.
