THRIVE Practitioner
Location: Chaldon, Surrey
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £27,713 £30,250 (depending on qualifications)
Additional: £2,000 Welcome Bonus for candidates with SEN experience*
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term-Time Only
Start Time: 8:15am Finish Times: MonWed 4:45pm, Thu 5:00pm, Fri 4:00pm
We are currently seeking a THRIVE Practitioner to join a brand-new specialist secondary school for young people aged 1116 with social communication needs, emotional regulation challenges and sensory processing differences, typically associated with Autism.
The role will be based primarily at Chaldon site with occasional work required at a nearby satellite provision.
About the Role
The THRIVE Practitioner will work alongside the Pastoral Lead, SENDCo and wider team to support the day-to-day running of the THRIVE provision. The aim is to develop students social, emotional and behavioural skills, enabling them to fully engage in their learning and school environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Use specialist skills to support pupils emotional and behavioural development
* Assist with the daily operation of the THRIVE provision, including planning and delivering activities
* Build strong, positive relationships with students and act as a supportive role model
* Provide play-based and creative experiences to promote development
* Deliver sessions 1:1, in small groups or within class groups
* Establish constructive partnerships with parents and contribute to feedback sessions
* Promote inclusive practices across the school
* Provide accurate feedback and evidence on pupil progress
* Work with the THRIVE lead to assess pupils and produce updated action plans
* Keep required data and records up to date
* Support and guide other staff working with pupils emotional development
* Contribute to Annual Review processes
* Support staff training to help embed the THRIVE Approach across the school

Qualifications
Essential:
* GCSE English & Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
* Relevant up-to-date training
Desirable:
* THRIVE Practitioner training (or willingness to complete)
* Norfolk Steps or Team Teach training (or willingness to complete)

Knowledge & Experience
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
* Experience supporting learners with SEN, including ADHD and Autism
* Knowledge of social and emotional development/attachment theory
* Experience working with children displaying challenging behaviour
* Experience in an education setting
* Understanding of child development and learning processes
* Experience supervising groups of pupils
* Desirable: Experience leading nurture or social skills groups
