Long-term teachers have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant with a genuine interest in working with students with special educational needs. Commencing in September 2024, the school is seeking a full-time applicant to work Monday to Friday, term time only, between 8:30am - 3:30pm. Part-time applicants who can work a minimum of 3 days a week are also welcome.

The school supports students in Key Stage 2, 3, and 4. All students have Education, Health and Care Plans and are placed through their local authority SEND departments. The predominant needs of students are Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. They work with students who have encountered challenges in mainstream settings, aiming to help them enjoy learning again through a therapeutic approach.

Located across 3 sites in Bridgewater, Street, and Wedmore, it is essential that you can drive or commute to these locations, as buses are unreliable due to the remote areas. Although you may be based on one site, there will be an expectation to work at other sites during staff absences or training.

Key Duties:

* Offer 1:1 support
* Deliver pre-planned lessons with enthusiasm, tailored to students' individual needs
* Bring a patient, caring attitude to the environment
* Monitor students during break times

Essential Skills:

* Ability to work effectively with individual students
* Ability to promote social and emotional development
* Respond calmly and effectively to behavioral challenges

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

* Experience working with young people with SEND
* Good knowledge of Safeguarding and Health and Safety
* Knowledge of National Curriculum subjects
* Teaching Assistant qualification or willingness to obtain one (training available)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
