Job summary
The main purpose of the Lead Technician is to provide operational delivery of all technical aspects of clinical education across the organisation.
The post holder supports the planning and delivery of simulation pedagogies, acting as the subject matter expert in high-fidelity and Technology Enhanced Learning equipment, facilities and approaches.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the technician(s) for organising the set up of simulation and delivery of clinical skills within medical education.
The post holder will work as part of the wider education and training team in providing advanced audio-visual, multimedia, teleconferencing and facilities support to a range of training.
The Lead technician is responsible for the operational management, maintenance, and risk assessment of simulation and technological equipment within the training facilities.
The post holder oversees the training within the UG teaching Academy and leads on administration and the organising of courses.
The department operates across all Trust sites and the post holder will be
expected to travel to different locations, where and when their role requires
them to do so.

Provides technical support in the operation and troubleshooting of teleconferencing facilities across the training facilities to facilitate connectivity with external organisations and across the multiple sites.
Monitor service needs within agreed limits defined by managers.
Make effective contributions to strategic planning, reviewing of all equipment and implementing cost improvement schemes when necessary, eg consumable usage, highlighting new service potential.
Contributes and supports the Digital Media Officer in maintaining a social media presence in the promotion of events and WAHT as a centre of simulation excellence.
Responsible for ensuring each piece of equipment displays user-friendly guidelines that meet Trust and supplier recommendations.
Responsible for ensuring all equipment is appropriately cleaned and stored after use, and maintained to the highest standards of maintenance within the centres.
Responsible for replenishing all training devices after each session across the trust sites as delegated and replace consumables as required.
Responsible for monitoring the life span of the equipment and resources and making recommendations for purchasing new equipment.

Qualifications
Essential
1. BTEC Diploma or higher in Audio visual/IT/technology or equivalent experience.
2. GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above or equivalent level of qualification and grade.
3. Completion of recognised training as a Simulation Technician.
4. Science Council/ASPiH registered Science Technician or commitment to achieve registration.

5. RSCiTech Accreditation
